Majestic mountain
The mysticism and history which have grown up around the Dachstein, coupled with its majestic beauty, attract visitors from all over the world. Its summit affords magnificent views across the unique mountain panorama of the Salzkammergut and across the idyllic lakes at its feet. Yet that is not all it has to offer.

Unique glacier
The Dachstein presents itself as Upper Austria's highest mountain and as the only one in white glacier attire. Down in the valley, it runs into Lake Hallstatt, on whose shores the most famous town in the region welcomes its visitors: Hallstatt.

The world's largest fossil finds
It isn't far from there to the spectacular caves in the heart of the Dachstein massif. The Dachstein ice cave, the Mammut and Koppenbrüller caves, the world's largest fossil finds and the Natura 2000 region are further highlights which will be indelibly imprinted on your mind long after your visit.
