Customs are always an expression of a long-practiced tradition. In the Inner Salzkammergut, these customs have hardly seen any changes at all, remaining practically unchanged to the present day. That is what makes them a particularly interesting experience for you.

The Hallstatt lake procession is a true feast for the eyes. Countless boats decorated with flowers, barges and regular service ships accompany the procession along with a floating altar above the lake.

On the occasion of the summer solstice, the World Heritage festival celebrates the region’s inclusion in the UNESCO World
Heritage list with a programme of music, dance, creativity and trivia. .

On the occasion of the Gamsjagatage, - the “Chamois Hunting Days” - young and old come together to present old craftsmanship, to tie chamois beards - the tuft of chamois hair worn as a decoration on a hat - and to enjoy all manner of fun and games of a traditional nature.

At the “Fiddling in Goisern”event, musicians from both near and far come together in order to indulge in their passion. It is
fitting that Hallstatt has one of the very few instrument-building schools (e. g. for violins and cellos).
