Longitudinal crossing of the Hohe Dachstein

There is no doubt about it: for mountaineering fans, the ascent of the Hohe Dachstein
is an absolute highlight of a visit to the Salzkammergut. The limestone mountain,
which reaches an altitude of almost 3,000 m, shows off its steep rock faces,
the glittering glacier, dreamy mountain pastures and deep-blue lakes. It irrefutably
enjoys a special position amongst the numerous summits of the Limestone Alps:
probably the loveliest way to ascend it is by crossing it longitudinally from east to
west.

Since the ascent of the Dachstein is a high-alpine tour taking in the glacier, it is urgently
advised that you are accompanied by a mountain guide. Information about the
